Work and rest rules
When to use
This feature lets you plan routes that respect the drivers' work and rest rules (WRR).
This matters most for multi-day trips, where you have to reserve time for meal breaks and for extended rest, such as an overnight stay.
How it works
A driver's work and rest rules are described with two types of rules:
rest_rules: rules for extended rest, usually used for overnight stays on multi-day trips.break_rules: rules for short breaks, for example a lunch break. The counter of such breaks is reset after each extended rest (rest_rules).
The system takes into account continuous driving time as well as the total duration of short and long breaks over the whole trip.
How to implement
Work and rest rules are set individually for each performer shift.
Use the shift.work_and_rest_rules object, which contains break_rules and rest_rules.
Example 1
Plan a trip so that a 45-minute break is taken after 4 hours of driving.

Plan a trip so that a 4-hour rest is taken after 13 hours of driving.
Planned rest period
